Morris U16-U18 Boys
Morris Rugby Football Club sponsors a Boys U16/U18 High School rugby program. If you haven’t tried playing rugby yet, now is the time! The program is run as a full contact sports activity with matches scheduled against other local community and single school programs, as part of the NJ State Based Rugby Organization (SBRO). We also enter into 2 or 3 tournaments during the season to introduce players to teams from outside the local area.
The program is intended for high school aged students, grades 9-12, 14 to 18 yrs of age. Training sessions are designed to develop the skills necessary to succeed at this exciting sport, focusing on fitness, running, passing and the strategic elements required to ensure a fundamental knowledge of the game. It will also ensure players are properly prepared if they express interest in continuing their rugby playing careers into college and beyond.
Fall practices begin in mid-Sept. and continue through early November, followed by our annual Rudy Kelly Alumni Game. Spring practices starting in early March, continue until early June. All outdoor training sessions are held in front of Mennen Arena in Morristown, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6 to 8 PM. Winter Indoor practice sessions start in early December and continue through late February. Fall and Spring league and non-league matches will be played on Sundays. USARFU Certified rugby coaches from the Morris Rugby Club make up the coaching staff.
