Morris U19 Boys Rugby
Morris Rugby Football Club sponsors a Boys U19 High School rugby program each spring, building upon the success of our town/recreation based youth and U15 programs. If you haven’t tried playing rugby yet, now is the time! The program is run as a full contact activity with matches scheduled against other local community based programs. We also enter into 2 or 3 tournaments during the season to introduce players to teams from outside the local area.
The program is intended for high school aged students, 15 to 19 yrs of age. Training sessions are designed to develop the skills necessary to succeed at this exciting sport, focusing on fitness, running, passing and the strategic elements required to ensure a fundamental knowledge of the game. It will also ensure players are properly prepared if they express interest in continuing their rugby playing careers into college and beyond.
Practices and will be held in front of Mennen Arena starting in early March, continuing until early June, held on Tues. and Thurs. evenings, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Winter Indoor practice sessions will be held at the Indoor Sports Pavilion in Randolph from 8-10pm each Wednesday evening starting in early December and continuing through late February. League and non-league matches will be played in the spring either during the week or on weekends, depending on league requirements. USARFU Certified rugby coaches from the Morris Rugby Club make up the coaching staff.
Club Program Fees: There is a $330 application fee for the 2011 season, which includes a pair of shorts, socks and rugby ball for new players, as well as 12 weeks of indoor training. Team Jerseys are provided by the club for matches. Payment options are available online and an application form is available for download.
Bring for Training: Mouth guard (required for all training and matches), Water, Rugby ball, dress for the weather.

NJ Blaze win third straight NY 7s championship

The NJ Blaze U19 team, which is sponsored by Morris Rugby, managed by Tom Feury and coached by Omar Rivera, won their third straight championship in the U19 division of the NY 7’s tournament On Saturday November 26th at Randall’s Island.

Morris U19 Boys 2011 NY 7s

On November 27th 2011, the New York Rugby Club hosted the 52nd Annual NY7’s Tournament. The tournament attracted many teams from across the country and even some from around the world. In the U19 Boys Division, the Morris Blaze (combined Delbarton HS a& Morris U19) brought home the hardware.

U19 Boys win 3 Sevens Tournaments

We have started a new tradition at Morris Rugby. We now have U19 Sevens program. This year the team consisted of five Delbarton and five Morris Rugby kids. These kids spent the last four weeks dominating the U19 brackets of the three tournaments they entered.
